Now a global company, Aldo got its start in Montreal, Canada in 1972. Founder Aldo Bensadoun came by his trade honestly. His grandfather was a cobbler in Algeria, and his father was a shoe retailer in Morocco. Bensadoun's business savvy and understanding of shoes made the business a success. He worked with retailers in Italy, one of the world's fashion hubs for shoes, and was able to cut out the middleman by learning to speak fluent Italian.
Fortunately for Americans, this fashion-forward shoe and accessory brand made its way to the United States in 1990. By 1995, Aldo had spread across North America and decided to try its luck in Israel as well. The brand succeeded and eventually become a leader in stylish, modern shoes and accessories for all ages, competing with similar brands in the market like Steve Madden and Chinese Laundry.
Aldo operates stores in over 100 countries all over the world but maintains its original headquarters in Montreal. Aldo creates shoes for both men and women in many styles for all seasons and continues to thrive as a top shoe and accessory store.
